High above La Clusaz they spend all the summer months in the beautiful age-old alpine farm grazing the most delicious pastures. As the seasons turns and late autumn arrives, the cows are slowly guided down the mountain, following paths carved by centuries of repetition, instinct, and care.
La Ferme des Corbassières
The Transhumance
Invited by La Ferme des Corbassières, we were given rare access to the an ancestral passage that has shaped mountain farming since its very beginnings, the annual transhumance of the Donzel family and their heard or beautiful cows.
This short film offers an intimate glimpse into a way of life governed by the rhythm or nature rather than speed, where patience, respect for the land, and deep bonds between humans and animals define each gesture. It is a story of family traditions and trust, of quiet devotion and deep love for the animals, and of time measured not in hours, but in seasons.
DELIVERABLES
Guided by the beautiful sounds of the cows bells, the symphony of colours in nature, the weathered hands, and steady footsteps, the transhumance becomes more than a journey, it becomes a ritual of continuity, and a powerful reminder of human connection to the land and it’s ancient traditions.
